Dall Sheep Sculpture in progress
Share
This sculpture has been a big step in a direction I have wanted to take my skill set. I have been carving for over 20 years now and I always have something new in the works that pushes the boundaries on Sculpture in wood.
this spruce piece came from a tree in Seward Alaska at a property of a local resident who was helping me out.
i purchased the 12 ft log from David Klein of Seward Alaska.
I had the log set up for a while and had already carved a few Dall sheep sculptures already but now I finally had a log that would work with the true vision I had for a single ram sculpture.
I spend a lot of time in the mountains and an old Dall Ram is the pinnacle of endurance and survival. The old sheep holds a story of survival to prevail against predation from wolves and grizzly bears, but not as impressive as the weather changes they face year after year. Much like my life the Ram has triumphed in face of adversity. He has conquered the mountain to grow to the maximum of his full potential. Giving it his all to prosper and thrive through the harshest conditions imaginable.
Execution of this design is much like the Journey of this Magical Sheep. Now that I have all the hardest parts of the work done on this Ram, and all that is left is detailing and adding the final touches to make him one of my most looked forward to designs.
Very soon I will have the full video out.
My journey to become physically fit as a mountain explorer and alpine athlete. My journey as a backpacking wildlife enthusiast will be reflected in the effort to finish this piece. “Dare to Dream”.
grateful for my friends, family, and this blessed opportunity.
